The beautyblender has an open cell structure that fills with small amounts of water when wet. This allows the sponge to be "full", so the makeup product is on the surface of the sponge instead of absorbed inside, so you can use less product each time. When wet, the sponge doubles in size and becomes even softer. It returns to its original size when air-dried.

At Beautyblender, you choose to use safe, water-soluble dyes that do not harm the environment and which will maintain the integrity of the self-developed foam. For this reason, you may notice that a little color runs off the first time you wash your beautyblender. This is normal and disappears after cleaning the product several times. Note that the color will not transfer onto the face or clothing.
